Row Row Row... updated with dialogue challenge!

Done at work during a bit of lunch break and at the end of the day. Still quite loose but I don't really have the time to refine it any more. I used Toonboom for this one.

EDIT: video updated with dialogue shot. It felt like I chained myself down in the drawing, hope to focus on the animation next time.

Hey geoff. Liking the overlap on the head and the nice arc to strait to arc you have on the arms. Looking nice and weighty. If i was to pick up on anything i think the legs lack compared to the rest of it. When he pulls back you cant really sense the tension that would be there. And from using rowing machines a lot of the strength comes from the thighs rather than the back. (Again being nitpicky, cos this is a really good animation).
Just need to crack on with mine now. On top of doing the 11 second club, sigh :p

Thanks for the comments Graeme. It's nice to get some feedback. I agree with you on the legs, I didn't put as much thought into it. but.. As a traditional rowing boat row I imagined him in a more regular sitting position, not sliding back and forth on a seat. I made it a bit vague, but he should still be pushing, just not extending like that of the race boats. Is this what you mean about the tension?

Hey, yer i see what you mean. The static seat does mean a lot more of the strength would be in his lower back. Tough one. Tbh as i said, I think the animation looks sweet! Just one of those extra layers that could be added. In terms of the legs, i think when he pulls back on the oars. The lines seem quite soft. Would be cool to gets some straights working against those curves and push the idea of the some tension in his calves reinforcing his back muscles.

I see what you mean
I'm quite enjoying these challenges so far :)

Very cool :) I really like the weight with each stroke! the only thing I'm reacting to, is the way the boat moves and that the guy doesn't seem to be moving with it. In stead of having it slow in at the end I imagine the spacing would be the other way around. So as he starts pulling it would be slow and then the boat would pick up speed.

Actually, when looking at it again, I guess the boat moves like it does to keep it in shot (the camera is "moving") ..

Haha I like that anwser. Yes the camera is moving ;) It was kind of an after thought to add the boat in. It was just going to be him and the oars. I don't think the boat moves 'corrently' with him but i put it in there anyway. It's something I would fpin down if it was to be used in a production with camera move etc.

Thanks for your feedback Magnus:)
Will you be taking part in this one?

thanks for all the comments guys.
I've updated the video with my dialogue shot for your viewing. Like I said in the caption, I felt like I focused to heavily on the drawing and it restricted the animation too much.
