TVPaint - Fire Brush

I recently discovered this brush in TVPaint and had a lot of fun with it. It allows you to quickly draw quite realistically rendered fire with a brush stroke. It is essentially just a two tone brush revealing your chosen texture. You can also smudge as you draw with the 'shift' setting to create some realistic fire blur.
It's nice to play with but I think it could look out of place or too generic if used on a production. Like using word art or photoshop filters.

30 days of animation

Last month I decided to animate something everyday for 30 days. This is the result.
It was difficult to even think of what to animate most days. I spent a few hours on average for each day, sometimes it felt like all day. I originally intended to do them quicker but they usually didn't get going till the late evening. This also meant all the days where only 'first passes' or 'straight aheads'. After the first 5 days I realised I should try to maintain a reasonable quality. It wasn't easy, a lot of time was spent hitting a wall but I had fun trying something different everyday.

Scrapbook

I was going to finish my last animation challenge this week and post all three but I have to make a short trip away. Instead, I thought I'd compile and share all my odd pieces of test animation and unfinished pieces. Sometimes I have the urge to just animate something, this is often the result.
Challenge post coming soon..

Row Row Row... updated with dialogue challenge!

Done at work during a bit of lunch break and at the end of the day. Still quite loose but I don't really have the time to refine it any more. I used Toonboom for this one.

EDIT: video updated with dialogue shot. It felt like I chained myself down in the drawing, hope to focus on the animation next time.

CG Horse!

Posted for the jumble but open for opinions.
I had to quickly finish this sunday night but I want to tweak bits and make a nice render.

Old man

A blocking pass for a short character test that I'm currently attempting using the Blik rig. The long term idea is to use the same rig to act out various other ages and emotions. I just wanted to share this to get some feedback before I go to far.

The rig below is called Morpheus and the one I originally started the test with.
Unfortunately I had to drop it in favor of Blik due to my 8 year old laptop being a little to feeble to handle him. However I may still try some shorter dialogue or acting shots with him after getting more familiar with Maya again.

Faces

So, you may have already seen this test of mine but I thought i'd post it here anyway. The Animation Jumble has no regular topics so I thought i'd keep the momentum going. I'm currently working on some CG tests to follow shortly.

I also wanted to share this sequence of images with you! I found it amazing to see how far poses can be pushed 'in real life'. Thought you might enjoy it too!

Welcome to the AIB Animation jumble!

Lets get the ball rolling...

Going back to basics for the opening of the AIB Animation jumble.
note- doesn't always play smoothly on slow computers.
